Stankey came to his passion for art and painting late in life as a result of nearly dying from COViD in April of 2020. This existential crisis lead him to seek trauma treatment in 2021 through a 90 day program that changed his life. Two weeks before leaving he started to paint. “I find believe that the right combination of motion, color, texture and physical manipulation of medium allows messages and images to appear in my work miraculously. I sometimes shake when I stand back and see these images”. Stankey paints with little preconceived design, for the most part, and has multiple styles and looks in his work. The majority of his paintings bear the name songs or musical artists that have touched his heart and soul. “Marrying my passion for music and media with the visual arts of painting and collage gives me unimaginable joy”.
Prior to finding this passion Stankey worked as a personal manager and agent for Internationally know personalities including Ty Pennington, Joy Behar, Joanna Gaines, Dr. Hunter S. Thompson and many others. Stankey was inducted into the Personal Managers Hall of Fame in May 2019. His philanthropic efforts are in the areas of education and mental health and addiction treatment.
